portfolio visit

I had a second portfolio visit at a studio called Holden and sons in Manchester in the northern quarter I teamed up with Ashleigh on this, on this visit I decided to take all of my animations/ videos and popped them on my I pad and Im glad I did because first of all I shown peter the boss what I was working on in great detail which was the mayo police idea , but then after he asked me to show him more, and them more so I had the good opportunity to show him more or less all of my work, the one he was interested in and I have had interest in before with other studio was the sonic light drawing brief and I had the opportunity to explain to him on how it was done and he seamed really interested in, he then began to explain when working on a brief always imagine if it was on TV or the internet so always produce it as best quality as possible

Just as we began to leave pete asked us if we can work on a brief from a company called making space company hew help people thru mantel health illnesses, he asked us to create a short 10 second animation , with the logo that is on the website 

portfolio visit 3rd

this was my first portfolio visit of the 3rd year at the THE NEIBOURHOOD before i when in to the visit i was talking to steve last years 3rd year, i began to show him my work and then talked work and how it is different from receiving briefs at college and receiving briefs in the work place, at the moment steve has worked on a couple of briefs but at this moment the work he is doing has already bin planed out and he has bin told what to do. but he explained that when a new brief dose come in a group of people hew are working on it go. go in to the meeting room and come up with ideas,


when i when in for my visit i did it in front of 3 people sarah, john and steve they where very nice people and enthusiastic about by work one of the mane discussions we had and one i was worried about the most is my style of work, i asked if there was any studies that were based around hands on project unfortunately she wasn't that sure, but she did say that i had a great skill set and don,t worry about it because in the industry most studies are not 100% digital and hands on projects are needed for some videos and with a great skill set could produce better ideas   

FLIPBOOK

The other studio im quite interested in and I would like to work at is a place in Manchester called flipbook it’s a cgi animation and visual arts studio the two mane big guys are Andrew lord and ben Haworth

they concentrate on advertising and promotional videos for games

one of the mane reasons I like the company is the animations are fun and over the top in action and visually exciting

CHAPMAN ENTERTAINMENT

When I when to the portfolio visit at kilogram I was talking to him about my Stockport college stop motion idea and he told me about the chapman entertainment and I presumed he was talking about the one in London because I have herd of it in the past. I recently research and there is one based in Altrincham which is like 20 minuets down the road the mane man him self is Keith chapman hew is the manager then there is exclusive producer Greg Lynn at the Altrincham branch there are approximately 20 members of staff that work there it is a kids tv show company the two mane programs they work on is Roary the racing car and fifi and the flower totts they got of the ground and well know from the program they did in the past called bob the builder

THE NEIBOURHOOD

Another big studio that I found quite interesting and would love to work at is the neighbourhood in Manchester I luckily have a portfolio visit in October and we have worked with them in the past with that Lexus brief, they produce a range of out animation out comes like the use live action, 3d software, flash,   the two mane people hew work there are Jon Humphreys and Sarah Baker I was amazed on the thing they have produced I have seen in the past like adverts, the channel 5 indent. I would have to say one of my favorites animations they have produced is one of the PlayStation adverts I like the transition between the 3d snake object thing with in the game play

MASK CREATIVE

The second company I would strangely like to visit or work is a company called mask creative I came across this company thro college with the promotional video hick up, but when I did some investigation in to it, it seams like a nice place its located in Dewsbury near Haddersfield     

The type of work they do are mostly advertising ( live action )they also specialize in to fashion, leisure and lifestyle

I’m not shur how many people work there but Johnny Carr and rick smith are the two mane directors there are the two directors hew did the Stockport college video

Be for I knew eny thing about the company or what they did I have seen some of the adverts in the past like the Manchester Arndale center advert

KILOGRAMME

I would have to say the first studio Im going to look into I think would have to be Kilogramme as I have been there for a portfolio visit in the past I would be quite happy to work there, there work seams fun and enjoyable to watch, they are based in Manchester the type of work they do are manly flash and 3d animations, the two mane people who work there are Jon turner and Claire grey and they work side by side with three other freelancers

Im not that shur if they have a mane animation they base there work around but the mane animation I’m in to and I like to watch which i saw be for I knew any think about kilogramme is sure
