London portfolio visit two

London portfolio visit two

Nexus
My second visit in London was nexus it was me and jack, I have to say this was my favorite place of the 2 portfolio visits I when on
We was originally only going to be in there for 30 minutes but we manages to be in there for an hour and a half
first of all when me and jack was talking about are work they were very nice and gave us some good feed back I was explaining my idea to them and shown them some of my test of my fmp and one of them gave me a link to a music video which was very use full and it has helped me to change my style of my city and made it much easier to create, so instead of creating 3d buildings in maya and spending a lot of time with 3d texture I am going to try flat images in photo shop

1.40 in the video

one of the other nice thing about nexse is that that they tuck us around the studio and they introduced me to a guy called Le Fevre he is a BAFTA and British Animation Award winning filmmaker,  he was a really nice guy and was interested  with a variety of technique he has a blog,  one of the pages is about phonoscope and we talked for a while about mine the one I made in 2nd year

Blac Ionica

Blac Ionica

One of the nice things I found about blac ionica is that that they told some of there story’s, about how in some of the animations and videos they made, they made some stupid mistakes like things accidently being the wrong size or the wrong color after a day of shooting, and they told us that stuff like this will happen despite how careful you are, and the majority of the time it is fixable in the editing proses.

Blac ionica like most other companies started from nothing and moved from place to place until they found a nice place in London but they kept saying to get the word out and to get more well know in the industry socialising is the key.

London studio visit one

Double G was one of my favorite place we when to in London, the work they did was a variety of things and used a vast about of techniques and the work they produces was fun and enjoyable to watch, and in some way it is quite similar to my style of the way I work. The studio its self seamed like a nice place and was in a nice area of London and for the future I would be interested in some sort of work experience there,

Beakus

Are first day in London me, jack and tom had a portfolio visit at a place called BEAKUS, one of the reasons I wanted to visit this place it is not a specialist place that focuses on one thing it shows a variety of technique like 2d, 3d stop motion, live action

The 2 people that were talking to use were eleni o’keeffe and steve smith
There were really nice people and had some us full feed back for are animations.
For example when they was talking about mine and jacks mayo police they said it would be better if it was slightly shorter and had better sound affects.

back to holden/portfolio visit

To day me, jack, tom and Ashleigh when to the company Holden and sons to show peter Holden the work we was given last time we went, the visit was successful he really liked the animations we produced, he really liked my metal shaving technique,  and said he would like to make a meeting with the making space company and getting us involved to talk about are animations,

This is the making space company

last time  when just me and Ashleigh went I was talking about mayo police at this point it was just at ideas stages, so when we went to day we showed him the finished mayo police video he really liked it

the other guy we was talking to was really enthusiastic with my finial major project and showed me a link to look at

all so me and jack had a portfolio crit discussing are mayo police animation he quite enjoyed it and thought it was a nice song chose and worked really well, another thing he said is to shorten out the end so its less long

the future is bright

i was looking around and for a visual look for the future i was thinking as we dot actually know the visual look , it could by a glowing wire frame of futuristic buildings this could also be useful to separate the look from present day and all so the past

the nextstep as the new sculpture is built give it a test

an

As me and Dave are starting to create are finial sculpture I decided to make an early animatic it is very ruff but it has helped to explain the idea my next step is to tweak the story and all so the style

main frame

the other day me jack and tom had a portfolio visit at a animation studio in manchester called main frame there are five members of staff that work there and two of them chatted to use, Ian Waters and Chris Hardcastle

we met these guys when when we when to motion north but it was nice to see them again, one of the projects i talked about was my FMP i didn't have that much to show but i explain what i was going to do and i think they got the hang of it. they really liked the idea of the animation repeating in the way it starts with an empty field and ends with an empty field, the advice he gave me is try not make it too long try make it short and sweet so with this good advice im going to change the story so it is shorter

projection

today me and dave visited the neighbourhood studio in manchester to talk to stuart the guy hew worked on the neighbourhood christmas card,  the talk with stuart was very useful he explains the problems he faces, the biggest problem that he faced and this was the problem he warned us about was the 3d aspect, he explained that when making some thing 3d and giving them some sort of 3d texture like for example are windows on are digital buildings whey can only be seen at one angle but if you look it at a   different angle it will look distorted he gave me a couple of sites that are quite use full
